    HOW ITALY INSPIRED THE GREATEST COMPOSERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

    internationally acclaimed Italian pianist and composer Cristiana Pegoraro will take the audience inside her homeland in a refreshing format that combines live piano performances and a stimulating look at the featured composers’ lives and the impact that Italy had on them.
    Over the course of two engaging sessions, “How Italy inspired Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven” and “How Italy inspired Chopin, Liszt, the opera composers of the ‘800 and the Argentinean tango” Cristiana will explore the music and enrich your soul.

    Called “an artist of the highest caliber” by The New York Times, Cristiana Pegoraro has performed as a soloist and with orchestras in Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House and other international venues. She has recorded 23 CDs and regularly presents master classes across the U.S. (including at the Juilliard School), Europe, Asia the Middle East and Australia.

    Italian Feast for All Senses: Cooking, Culture and Music Together

    Experience an authentic Italian evening, learning how to cook a full meal (from appetizer to dessert) while Cristiana Pegoraro, famed pianist/composer as well as home chef, takes you on a virtual tour of her home country.  In this interactive cooking and discussion class, Pegoraro will offer interesting stories and anecdotes about Italy, as well as tidbits about each composer’s life, impact, musical innovations . . . and a hint of gossip.  Tour Italy without leaving the classroom.  While the food is cooking, Pegoraro will treat students to a sampling of her piano prowess and after the cooking is complete, students will enjoy a sampling of all the dishes. Please note:  For returning students from fall 2015, recipes will be all new this semester.

    ITHAKA, the journey of Ulysses
    An evening of music and poetry by Cristiana Pegoraro

    Internationally acclaimed Italian pianist, composer and writer Cristiana Pegoraro takes the audience inside her art in a refreshing format that combines live piano performances of her own composition and a stimulating look at life through the reading of her own poems.  The program, Ithaka, is dedicated to the journey of Ulysses, and symbolizes our journey through life, a journey made of adventures, discoveries, goals and lessons learned.  Each musical piece represents an important aspect of life, the poems complement the music and Pegoraro’s explanations will give a cue for personal reflections.  Join us for an evening concert in an intimate setting filled with Pegoraro’s deep passion and enthusiasm for music, poems… and life!
